Vyvanse is a prescription medication that contains the active ingredient lisdexamfetamine dimesylate. It is primarily used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in both children and adults. Vyvanse belongs to a class of drugs known as central nervous system (CNS) stimulants.
Vyvanse works by affecting the levels of certain chemicals in the brain, increasing the release and blocking the reuptake of neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine and dopamine. By doing so, it helps to improve attention, concentration, impulse control, and hyperactivity, which are common symptoms of ADHD.
